Ajith has started on his next project. After Aegan, Ajith has plunged into his next film with the verve and zest that is his deeply ingrained work ethic.

"Asal" is the 49th film of Ajith and fourth under the direction of Saran who is Ajith's friend and favorite director. The project has been delayed because of dilly-dallying on the choice of the director. Originally Gautham Menon's name was doing the rounds the air has now been cleared by naming Saran as the director of "Asal" which will be a remake of a popular Telugu film.

Ram Kumar and his younger brother Prabhu under the banner of Sivaji Productions will produce the film.
Well, it's noteworthy that duo combo Ajith-Saran had spelled hat-trick with Kadhal Mannan, Amarkalam and Attagasam. Earlier Sivaji Productions had signed agreement with Sameera Reddy as Gowtham had suggested and now she is being sustained for female lead.

Producers, Ajith and Saran on the verge of finalizing technicians within short period and buzzes are that it would be either A.R. Rahman or Harris Jayaraj scoring music.

Danush next Venture $ Pokkiri Raja $

The craze for Rajinikanth’s film titles seems to have gripped Dhanush firmly.

After ‘Polladhavan’ and ‘Padikkaadhavan’, it now seems Dhanush has christened his next film as ‘Pokkiri Raja’. The movie to be produced by Raj TV marks the entry of cinematographer R. D. Rajasekar as director.

Dhanush is slated to act in ‘Idhu Malai Nerathu Mayakkam’ soon which will be directed by his brother Selvaraghavan and is also doing a cameo in ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’.

In about ten years from now it looks like Dhanush would have used up a sizable number of titles from Rajinikanth’s filmography.

The Bruce Lee of Tamilnadu Dhanush who came up with two back to back hits in the form of 'Polladhavan' and then 'Yaradi Nee Mohini' is currently busy with the shaping up of his next movie. The film which has been titled as 'Padikkadhavan' has Dhanush pairing up with the milk white beauty Tamannah and this is directed by Suraj. Vijay's next release *VILLU* songs on Dec 15th onwards

This film has stirred the curiosity of the public for Prabhu Deva and Vijay are teaming up again; last time when Prabhu Deva directed Vijay in Pokkiri, it turned out to be a great hit.
Villu is a remake of the Hindi blockbuster Soldier, which starred Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta. And it looks like Bollywood and Kollywood have entered into some kind of exchange program. While Soldier is being remade in Tamil as Villu, Pokkiri is being remade in Hindi as Wanted: Dead or Alive with Salman Khan in the lead. Well, it looks like apart from cricket, cinema also unites India.

Soldier had a storyline and elements of cinema that were perfect enough to make a Vijay movie. With Prabhu Deva and Vijay teaming up again, it will be presented in a very interesting manner like last time. The original film's story is about a young man who avenges the gruesome death of an army officer who falls prey to a conspiracy. It also showcased the relationship between a mother and her son and was built around the sentiments involved in that relationship.

Villu is being produced under the banner of Ayngaran International Films Pvt. Ltd. by K. Karunamurthy and C. Arunpandian.

A group of bad people kill an honest, hardworking man. The man’s wife and son are somehow spared. The son (Vijay) grows up under the impression that his father had perished in an accident. But then, as the story goes, Vijay learns of the malicious plot that got his father murdered. An angry Vijay hatches a plan to bring the murderers to justice and in the process falls in love with the daughter of a bad guy, played by Nayantara. next !!! is he succeed in his mission? thats what the climax is about.

Though the story you may have heard already, this film is of commercial entertainment based.

Telugu upcoming Film 'KING'

The next big release anticipated in Tollywood is the Nagarjuna starrer King. Launched on April 7 2008, the movie will be passed by Censor Board any time now and is planned for release on December 18th. King is the latest in a string of single-syllable grandiose titles for Nagarjuna's recent films (Mass, Don, Super, Boss) which will all be outshone by the predictive sounding King.

Conceptualized by Srinu Vaitla with the sole idea of pleasing all of Nagarjuna's fans, writers Kona Venkat and Gopi worked hard on King's script which is in tune with Nagarjuna's image. Srinu Vaitla, with his brilliant eye for commercial cinematic aspects, gave the movie its dramatic and mass appeal.

With Srinu Vaitla as director and Shiva Prasad Reddy as producer (Kamakshi Movies banner), the movie will be released to high expectations as Vaitla's last two films, Dhee and Dubai Seenu were hits. (But Don, Nagarjuna's previous release, didn't set the box-office on fire.)

The USP of King is that Srinu Vaitla and Trisha have teamed up with Nag for the first time. What are the components of this USP? First we have Nag's great popularity. Next, pretty Trisha has the distinction of being the reigning heroine in both Tamil and Telugu films. Finally, director Srinu Vaitla is one of the brightest young directors who can mix a good story with mass appeal to bring out a popular hit that even critics love. And let's not forget ravishing sizzling Mamta Mohandas (of Homam fame) who is sure to add zing to King with her mesmerizing performance!

With quick-tongued comedian Brahmanandam in the movie (in the role of a music director and Sri Hari in a key role, King is all set to light up the marquees for the New Year. Why a December release? All of Nagarjuna's year-end releases - Manmadhudu, Mass and Don - have been runaway hits. In a superstition-ridden film industry like Tollywood, that is reason enough for a December release.

Devi Sri Prasad's superbly lilting melodies for King are doing well on the music charts. Though King's audio was launched with much fanfare, it was Nag's son, Naga Chaitanya who stole the show. Nagarjuna planned the launch of his film's audio on his son's birthday to formally introduce Naga Chaitanya to the media and the public.

Suriya's next Flash -->AYAN<--

*'Ayan', a movie from AVM, starring Suriya and Tamanna in the lead.
The press meet followed the launch of the function held in AVM Studios this morning (24, March). Almost all the members of the unit attended the press meet and shared a few words with the media persons.
*Suriya, who has earlier done 'Perazhagan' with AVM, is doing his second movie with the prestigious company. The story is said to be a romantic comedy laced with lot of action. Suriya plays a cool guy who makes others laugh.
*Tamanna, who has got a real break after her good performance in Balaji Sakthivel’s 'Kalloori', is quite happy to act opposite a leading young star.

Director K.V Anand briefed about the title in the press meet. He said that 'Ayan' means outstanding or excellence. The word is there in at least five languages including Tamil, informed the director. It can also mean, said the director, the power from sun rays. “So I think Suriya is apt for the title role.”

Music director Harris Jeyaraj, who is doing his first movie with AVM, informed that he spent 10 days in Mauritius along with the director to compose songs for the film.

Vairamuthu, who writes the lyrics for all the songs, told that 'Ayan' in Tamil denotes the four headed God Brahma. He also showered praise on AVM, which stays on top for so many years. He also quoted a couple of lines from a song penned by him for the movie and attributed the lines to Suriya and AVM.
